The prints in this series showcase Bach's second endeavor into the environmentally friendly and safe process - Electro Etching, taught by Alfonso Crujera during a residency in Gran Canaria, Spain. Inspired by the reflecting on moments from the sea to the studio.
Technically, I felt ready—but I was unsure what image or story I wanted to illustrate. Last time, I drew inspiration from the garden. Once again, the garden helped settle my mind. So I went for a run through San Felipe, as I used to. I ran to the natural pool, spent some time with my feet in the water, letting the fish come close and watching them sit still on the rocks. I saw baby crabs scurry across the paths. I noticed the forms the water made as it crashed and dispersed.
On my run back, I began to pay attention to the journey of the water—from the sea to the home. I observed each element along the way: the rocks, the buildings, the overhead wires, the telephone tower, the banana leaves, and finally the wire fence near Alfonso’s house. That fence, with its minimal materials, marked the boundary between outside and inside. It struck me as significant—something so slight signalling a shift in rules and ownership. It seemed to echo the journey I had been observing.
